Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

Although I am possibly the biggest bonus whore online, and I have money constantly on the move, I prefer to play on just one site. What is the benefit of having money in a million different places? I try to develop and rely heavily on my player notes. The site I play on most is UB because they have a small player population compared to, say, Party and so I bump into the same players over and over again. I like their software too. Anyway, I would say consilidate to just one site. Why not?

Because a wider number of sites gives you a wider number of game choices.

Game selection is the bona fide NUMBER ONE route to being a big winner online, and that's something that you have to accept as being a MAJOR reason for playing online as opposed to in a B&M casino. If you play multiple games (as I do) then spending 5 minutes running through a few different sites looking to see if there's any juicey ones going on gives you a big advantage as opposed to a situation where you're restricted to just one set of tables, one set of fish, on one site. If you play UB, for instance, now and again there's a good NL table going on at one level, a couple of decent omaha 8 games on the go at semi-decent levels/limits, and sometimes 1-2 good PLO high games running. Often, however, there's not even that many, so it's nice to be able to dip in and pick up on the juicy ones, whilst still being able to look elsewhere for others. If you ONLY play one very specific type of game (50NL for instance) then I can see more merit to consolidating your BR onto one site. However, there are drawbacks too - what if the site crashes and you can't get your money out to play somewhere else with a short-term bonus offer on? What if you have your whole BR there (not applicable if you withdraw regularly to neteller) and it gets taken or frozen by the site for some reason (and yes, it does happen)?

Now, most of my best results come in very specific games. I maul the limit O8 at UB. I am very successful at 100 and 200 PLO at cryptologic. I play NL on a few sites. I do great at the NLO8 at Stars. This may be medium term fluctuations in luck, or cards, but I do feel the games and players at certain sites suit me better for different reasons. It's also nice, I think, to be able to change your scene a little bit, if your results on one site are bad, to take a look elsewhere. When I'm running bad at Empire (which seems to be an all-too-often occurrence!), I give the games a wide berth for a while and play at UB, where the tighter games offer less variance and (if I win) vastly improve my confidence.

There's any number of good arguments for spreading your money around, as there are for keeping it all in one place. You need to decide what YOUR reasons are for having money on a specific site, whether they warrant you actually keeping x% of your BR there, and act accordingly. The best advice I could offer is to have a good reason for having a BR at any site (bonus reasons, games offer you something you don't get elsewhere, or you simply like the engine) and not to RESTRICT your game with your BR strategy - if you have a BR and a desire to play 10/20, for instance, don't spread it between 5 different sites if it will restrict you to only playing 3/6 at all of them. However, providing your "spreading" activities are not restrictive in any way, I can see a lot of possible merit in handling your bankroll in this manner.
