The all important concept of not going broke.

Well, I'm back from my trip and this is my forum, so I can't avoid posting my results from last week any longer.

First, I have to go look and see what my results actually were. I was so upset with myself after the last hand I played late last week, I never looked to see how much was left on GC.

Here goes. Ugh. I can't bear to look!! :( :( :( :(

Yuck. About as bad as I thought.

All on the $50 tables at GC.

I lost $220.50 in 5.5 hours. That's, um, negative 40 bucks an hour or so. Yikes.

Totally forgot how to play, or something.

I really needed this last week off.

Anyway, I have demoted myself down to the $10 tables. Skipping right past the $20 tables on my way down, as a sort of punishment to myself. To make myself remember, I hope, in the future, that it is NOT ok to play like that. Holy cow that was an ugly time on the tables last week.

Once I win say $50 at the $10 tables I'll let myself move back up to the $20 game. Once I win back the rest of the $220 at the $20 tables, it'll be time to try the $50 game again.

Bleah.

Its good to see that you have a solid plan to make sure you are playing at your best for the limit you are playing.

Heya K3nt, Nice to see your back, If you remember I was in a simular situation a few weeks ago and made a post about moving down a LVL. I was surprised at the difference in my play when I was sitting at the $20 tables vs the $50 tables, I was way too tense to play correctly after loosing 2 buyins on the $50 tables and it seriously contributed to dropping 3 more buyins in about 6 hrs total. After 1 solid week on the $20 tables I moved back up to the $50 tables this week and did very well.

The bottom line for me is this, Im a rookie, I know I have alot to learn, but im in it for the LONG run, and moving down a LVL didnt exactly fit into what I was hoping for, but it was a great confidence builder and its somthing I needed and will readily employ when its needed again.

Thanks, Jeff. I did notice the similarity between our stories so far. I am a few weeks behind you, I think. :)

Definitely in my rookie season here as well. Nice perspective.
