Gribble good to know I have a fellow in the same boat as me. (being 18) I would possibly keep more cash on hand for some home games. I usually have around $300 strickly poker ATM account. This prevents you from tapping other sources. Home games are a great way to build a BR but online you will soon learn will be your bread and butter. After you start on your way online you'll see yourself crushing your old home games. I am in college atm and the games are INSANE. The amount of fish and what they want to play for can be almost as profitable as online. There was a 2/4NL game happening in a dorm, capped buy in was at $600. Juicy as hell, but no security and shady characters.... but you can't turn a corner without finding a game at college. best of luck! Hope this board helps you; sure as hell helped me.

Its great to hear from someone in the same boat as me. What site do you play on and what game limit do you usually play? Right now I am wondering what the best game is to jump into online. Also, I have made sure to keep all of my poker money from home games seperate which it sounds like you have done also. I think this is an excellent idea.

Thanks

I SO wish I was back in college. Besides the fact that I'd be in law school with Mecos, I'd probably be (trying to) bankrolling my whole tuition from playing poker...

DAMN you guys are lucky.

Enjoy the ride.

haha thats where my entire br is headed. Student loans ahoy, mind as well crush games with kids who watch it on espn and never fold their K9...but its soooooted!!!!!!!#!#%#%

gribble i grinded it out at pary the $25nl tables are fish tanks; but you will have to use or will gain immense patience. till i got to about $1250 then now im at $50NL which im still getting used to. I always have 25 buy ins at a certain level; i call it cautious but pussy is the word eveyone else uses for me. I should get PT at some point, considering i usually forget to take notes and bluff the tables calling station Doh!

oh yea, but if your knew to online bw is a great site to help you learn and build your bankroll. Mind as well learn and get free money; this will also help for you to learn that not everyone at the $25NL level will push all in preflop with TT. Party I think shouldn't be your first choice, possibly paradise. I figure you have a good handle on the game if your playing all the time, but i think you should go to a tighter room before you stroll over to party and see insane action. Just my opinion, I'm sure someone will correct me....

guys? haha

If you want to (be forced to) learn a tighter style of play, play at PokerStars. Worst bonuses in the business (when they give them), but arguably the best caliber of players in the business (more sharks and ultra-aggressors). UB is similar, though it has gotten fishier lately.
