Wow.

Just went to the preferences section in PT and decided to just combine everything together to see what it looked like since over the past several months I've been at various times at different limits of LHE and NLHE. Turns out in the past 36,800 hands, I've made $61. I was shocked, that's a lot of hands, and not a lot of money. NL50 and 1/2Limit are the major culprits here having taken about $800 combined off me which has been made up for by making just more than that at NL25 and .5/1 Limit. I don't get it, the game doesn't change, my play doesn't change, but the money disappears at that next level up.....over a long amount of time too, not just me getting used to the betting amounts or anything like that. Anyway, now that I've almost completely annhihilated my bankroll at 1/2 limit, I'm going back to NL25 for a while to rebuild. Just thought I'd stop by and mention that I've made sixty bucks in ~4 months.

Mine also shows 60% losers and 40% winners. I do have to say that I am not loading PT stats (only doing it on FTP because I get 27% RB there and want to see if my numbers match the affiliate) but back when I did, there wernt even many players with more than 2K hands winning more than 4-5PTBB/100. There are a lots of players that are barely winning 1 or less PTBBs. Lots of them are not break even or slighly winning because oif the rake.

keep in mind that your PT database is NOT a representative sample of the population.

there are probably a LOT of players that load up once, go to the lower limit tables, lose it, and never come back.

even then, 93% seems to be a bit over the top. maybe they define "making money" as crossing a certain threshold of bb/100.

Another thing to consider - Someone can be a winnging player over 10,000 hands, go on tilt, then donate back all of their winnings in 100 hands or so. To be a long term winner (>100000 hands, is probably 25% at the highest. 7% seems reasonable. When you give money to a good player, its gone, it's not coming back on the tables. When you lose is to a marginal player, it may be coming back on to the tables in the future. I dont mind doubling up fish as much as I do a solid winner...cause with a fish, its still in the pool.

The 700 dont have to lose their money to the 9300. A huge portion of the 10000 probably lose to the rake.

The 7% number does sound too low to me also though, but thats what the poker site said in an article

I'd believe 7% if they ignore bonuses/rakeback.

With that added back I'd reckon maybe 15% make money. I had a 'losing' 3 months according to PT when I first switched to 6 max but my bankroll kept on going up..

Also remember at lower stakes that most of the good players play 3+ tables and most of the fish 1...so those winning 700 have an effective table presence of more like 2500..
