Can I really be afraid of a 6 here?

Postby MTPaid » Tue Dec 19, 2006 5:09 pm

UTG is 38/8/58 after 50+ hands so I know he's playing a lot of hands and going to the showdown whenever he has so much as an Ace in his hand. I was playing 3 tables so I didn't really notice any specifics on him.

Limit 1/2 - I'm UTG+1 [Kc][Ks]
UTG limps, I raise, all fold to UTG who calls.

[5h][8s][4d] Pot 5.5 SB

Check, bet, call

[7h] Pot 3.75 BB

UTG bets, even though he is pretty loose I can't see a 6 in his hand from UTG so I have to call. I'm more worried about a set than anything also a possible draw.

[Kh] Pot 5.75 BB
UTG bets
Either a life saver or a killer. Which one? The heart draw got there. His set is crushed. If he actually has a 6 I'm still in trouble. His stats say he'll go all the way with any hand so do I want to call or raise his bet. Folding is NOT an option.

When someone donks into me on the turn, I think 2 things.....
1 - Either they are bluffing the hand that just landed (the striaight here) because I would assume they'd c/r
2 - They already had a hand that they wanted to c/r, BUT either the turn scared them OR for some reason they suddenly feared I would check and didn't want to lose that bet so they change mid-stream.

Of course it's possible that they'd just bet out a made hand just like I would because they want me to think exactly what I just said, but most players don't think like me and love to c/r. I ended up raising the river thinking that he could call with a set or even 2 pair, but if he just had the 6 he wouldn't re-raise because I could be repping the flush now.

He had [6s][5s]. I should have seen that coming from his stats, but I just didn't think even he would be playing that UTG. I need to remember that some of these players just have no concept of position.
