Did I get this one right Mecos?

Postby antneye » Fri Mar 02, 2007 10:19 pm

The last time I hit a monster I got fancy and Mecos ridiculed me (rightly so). This time let me explain. 2 hands ago MP2 raised and reraised me with 2 aces on board. The only problem with that was that I held pocket Aces...... :D

This guy was betting and raising all the way with any piece of the board. When I flop the flush my initial reaction was "holy shit, lets bet into these clowns and see where we go" I'll provide commentary where relevant.

PokerStars 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) from (Format: Bet The Pot)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Ad], [Kd].
Hero raises, 2 folds, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, 1 fold, SB calls, 1 fold.

Flop: (11 SB) [5d], [4d], [8d] (5 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, MP2 raises, MP3 folds, CO calls, SB folds, Hero calls.

My thinking was that I was going to play this fast. If they fold so be it. But when MP2 raised me and CO called I was fairly certain CO had a diamond, and I knew that he was in the hand to the river. I also knew that MP2 would bet the turn if I called and checked on turn allowing me to trap them both for 2 bets on turn. My only fear was the SF, or if a 4th suit fell on turn that could shut MP2 down.

Turn: (8.50 BB) [2c] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets, CO calls, Hero raises, MP2 calls, CO calls.

I loved this card because it could not change anyones minds on their hand so I follow through on my check raise plan.

River: (14.50 BB) [7s] (3 players)
Hero bets, MP2 calls, CO calls.

River is easy

Final Pot: 17.50 BB

Does anyone think I made any mistakes?

Flawless victory.

Originally I thought it might be good to check it let MP2 do his thing and maybe get a few peels here. However since he raised and someone called 2 it's probably just as good.

For the record had this had been me MP2 would've had 6d7d, and I would need a new keyboard.
