Floppin the nutter butters in first position, 8 ppl in

Postby MecosKing » Sat Jan 21, 2006 9:03 pm

When this happened, i really had no idea what to do with it. I have been playing 15/30 full ring games instead of the short handed games (well, i play the games short then when they get full i stay). Anyways just wondering what you full ringers would do with this hand to maximize value here. I did the only thing i knew how to do which is put in the field CR on the flop then hope that someone along the way decides to over play thier hand so i can come over the top of em again. I guess this sorta happened on the river, but really, i probly coulda made more here i think.

Bet the flop. Just call the inevitable late position raise. Check raise his ass on the turn.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.

What I do in this type of situation is going to be board dependent and player betting position dependent combined. In this case though with so many people in I would probably just go ahead and lead into the field. As you played it I don't mind the CR because of the low cards on board with the BB being the one that bet this hand. If the board would have been with a QKor A on it then I would have waited until the turn to try a CR. The reason is that the BB probably has at least top pair and alot of cards are going to kill his turn bet in many instances on your particular board but not in the other as there are fewer or no overcards that can come on the turn. As it was you need to go ahead and make those overcard draws put in another bet which they would do if it hadn't gotten three bet by BB. My thoughts though are generally if you are first or second to act in a large field and flop a big hand go ahead and start firing because people are going to call trying to hit something in a big pot and hopefully you can get in a 3 bet or cap with most of them drawing slim or dead. The worse thing that can happen is you check on a shitty flop like that and it gets checked around and then the turn gives someone a flush or straight draw and they crack your hand when they would have likely folded to a flop bet.

When you have an opportunity to get a bunch of folks to put in 2 bets on the flop it is generally best to do so because many of them are just drawing to overcards or what have you and they won't be around on the turn to donate anymore when they miss.
