Haven't Played Limit In A While

Postby MTPaid » Thu Oct 19, 2006 1:22 am

It's been a while so here ya go, go ahead and rip me....

For those that don't know, the 1/2 games at AP are generally better than 2/4 games on many sites. Fairly tight and aggressive.

I hate KQo OOP. If I PFR and get 3 bet, I'm in deep poop. On the flop I figured I had about 7 outs combined with 2 OC's + GSSD w/ 2 hearts on board getting 6-1. If we were 3 handed or more I'd be more worried about flush possibilities.
I opted for the C/R on the turn because opponent was fairly aggressive and KQ is the only hand I could have that beats him because I would have raised TT or JJ PF so he's most likely betting again.

Is this a bad river bet? Everytime I think I'm value betting on the end, I've actually gotten runner-runnered instead. I definitely check the river if I don't hit 2 pair.

Hand 1: I agree I'm not a big fan of KQo, but I'm even less of a fan of open-limping in limit. The last thing you want to to is go up against 3 or 4 people with a hand like that. If you're going to play it, I say raise. Beyond that, the play was pretty standard, IMO.

Hand 2: I like your bet on the end. You can't assume he's calling on the flop with a backdoor flush - you gotta think he's on a straight draw or he hit his hand. Like you say, if the 2 doesn't hit I'd consider check-calling the river even if the flush card doesn't come because I'm a bit worried about being out kicked, but when you spike your kicker I think you have to bet. That'll be an EV+ play in the long run, I think.

Hand 1 - I didn't count all 6 outs for the OC's. I figured 3 or 4 outs and then 3 or 4 outs for the straight.
