I have 20,882 hands of 1/2 limit logged in PT and I feel like I'm getting nowhere. PT pretty much confirms this.
My stats are (this is al FR)
16.82 VP$IP
7.53 PFR
28.58 WTSD
Total AF 2.03
Amount won +$60.36 or 30 BB
BB/100 hands +0.14
Total Rake Paid $636
Postiion stats look normal -
I'm positive everywhere except UTG (-$14.25) of -0.06 BB/100 or in the blinds (-0.22) and (-0.14) which is natural.
The thing is, I haven't really budged much from these numbers at all over the last 10-13K hands. Everyone says that live 2/4 or 3/6 games aren't profitable because of the rake even though there are so many bad players. My question is though, if most of the players in these games play the same, isn't it dificult to make any kind of reasonable profit here either. The only one making any real money seems to be the site.
I feel very lucky if I sit down and there is one player on the table with a VP$IP over 30%. Two or more players is cause for a celebration. Finding 3 bad players at a table happens maybe once a month if the stars align. Under those coniditions I believe it would still be profitable, but just not often enough. The only time I feel like it's worth playing these games is when I'm clearing a bonus. I feel like I'm just crapping away rake.
I know I'm not supposed to move up unless I'm beating the heck out of the last limit, but really, how much tougher can 2/4 or 3/6 be? A year or two ago I wouldn't have even dared ask this question, but I think it's possible that most of the players playing 1/2 are good players without much of a bankroll. If there's an average of one bad player per table usually (sometimes more, but sometimes even less) at 2/4 or 3/6 it really isn't much different. Am I right in assuming the the effect of rake is less too?
