Live 3/6 Hand vs. CS and TAGish villians

Postby Danhdan » Mon Mar 12, 2007 4:29 am

Had been playing for a little while at the El Dorado in Reno on Sunday. Was going to play the 4/8 half kill game, but it was only forming small pots for the first time I've ever seen, so I jumped in at 3/6 for a few hours before I went home. Blinds are 1/2, and to raise you make it $5 to go(Blind + limit). Was up and down a little in the first 1.5 hours, finally won a decent pot and was up about $40 when I was dealt [8s] [7s] in the BB. Two limpers call and MP raises to $5. Two people coldcall in LP and OTB, SB and I call, and limpers call. Seven to the flop which is [Qs] [4s] [5c]. SB bets out. The SB is a CS in alot of hands, but will become very aggressive if she has a pretty good hand. I liked my hand, but I wanted to see what the preflop raiser was going to do, so I called here. Two folds to him and MP raises - read on him was it was tough for him to let go of overpairs, and was decently aggressive after his raises, and wasn't going to toss money away; also I never saw him get aggro on a draw once. Guy in LP calls, another fold, and SB reraises. At this point, I noticed her stack was getting pretty short. She only had about $18 left, so I figured she might not have a set here, although I was pretty sure she thought her hand was pretty good and the best hand. I decided to 4-bet after a second. MP capped the flop, LP coldcaller folded, and SB and I called the cap. Turn was [3s]. SB checked, I bet, MP raised(at this moment I noticed he had only another bet left, oops), SB called all in for $12 and I 3-bet to put MP all in.

I think I played this fine, although the strength I was feeling from my opponents on this hand is way underestimated in my description. My actual impression on the flop was that both plays had sets( or MP had a set and SB had two pair), which actually made me feel better about getting alot of money in this pot.

How did I play this hand? Just curious about opinions, thanks.

I'm a fan of jamming draws but i dont like it so much when i'm out of position and drawing to the 7th nut flush. Of course doesnt sound like any of these guys are capable of jamming a higher flush draw but I think you're better off not 4 betting it. Keeps LP guy in, and if the other two get into a war, thats fine too.

Turn is fine. The moneys going in one way or the other.
