Live hand big pot

Postby growlers » Wed May 23, 2007 5:44 pm

4-8 1/2 kill game live. Full tabe. All opponents besides the three bettor in this hand are all loose passive calling station horriible players.
I had a mountain of chips (literally - 5 racks). Probably my image to some is that of a luckbox, and to some a skilled player as alot of these people think mountain of chips automatically means stupid luckbox.

Dealt to me in CO
[6c] [7c]
There are 5 linpers to me in CO so I raise to $8. Button who is an older tight lady three-bets which I had never seen her do before. BB caps at $16 (LAG) and most everybody calls - 6 to the flop.
Flop (~$110 pot)
[Kc] [Jd] [2c]
Everyone including me checks to the three-bettor button (who was clearly going to bet), 3 callers, I call.
Turn: [9h] (5 players ~$130 pot)
3 people check, I check, button bets, 2 callers, I call.
River [4c] (~$162)
2 people check, I bet, button folds (!), two callers.

Thoughts on all streets?

looks fine to me. Betting on the come with the aggressor on your left in a multiway pot is usu. not a good idea. Lead river since the draw got there and the W/T button lady will probably check behind.

I really think this is a textbook low limit multiway hand. You kinda hate to get 3-bet pre-flop but you had no way of suspecting that was going to happen. Calling 2 cold pre-flop is fine. I love the 2 calls on the river, especially the overcaller. Payoff artists are my favorite player archetype :D

MK, I was thinking the flop checkraise as well. But if you thought anyone was going to get chased away by a 3-bet flop in that spot, you need to go play in a live 4/8 game again.

Other than that, looks really good.

Yeah, I questioned whether I should have checkraised the flop. That was really why I posted the hand - I think the rest is pretty standard.

Here's the problem I have:
The only scenerio I didn't want was to checkraise the flop and then if a nonclub falls - do I bet???
Then i risk her raising the turn which would suck. That shuts everybody else out and I gotta call with only one card to come. It would seem like a wierd line to checkraise flop and then check turn???
