Live AK hands 8-16 limit

Postby growlers » Thu Mar 15, 2007 3:45 pm

Both hands are from a live 8-16 limit game. Villians in hand are good players, play a tight aggressive game and know what they are doing .My image is similar. ( It was actually the toughest game I've played in awhile- highest game in the room at 3 PM so no other options) In all three hands the blinds both folded. I usually don't like to post multiple hands in a thread but since these involve the same players and occurred over the space of 30 minutes I figured I will just this one time. I did not neccessarily win all hands.
Sorry I've been gone for awhile, had to move and only played one time before this in the last month and haven't been keeping up with hand posts- sorry.

1st hand:
Dealt to me in BB [Ad] [Kd]

UTG raise, MP three bets, I cold call the three bet, UTG calls.

Flop (3 players) [Kh] [8c] [4c]

I check, UTG checks, MP bets, I checkraise, both players fold.

Easy hand, but I kinda regret not letting them hang a little on a hand I am either way behind or way ahead and am going to the river against tricky opponents. Or is this the way to play it? I can't tell if I am just being results oriented since they folded, maybe I should have checkraise the turn? Do I cap preflop?

2nd hand:
Dealt to me in CO [Ad] [Kc]
One early limper, I raise, button codcalls, limper calls.

Flop (3 players) [As] [Tc] [3h]

Limper checks, I bet, button calls, limper folds.

Turn: [5d] I bet, button raises, I three bet, button calls.

River: [8d] I bet, button calls.

Do I just call down here after the turn raise?

3rd hand:
Dealt to me UTG: [Ah] [Kh] I limp, MP calls, folded around to button who raises, I call,, MP calls.

Flop: [Kd] [4d] [2c]

I check, limper checks, button bets, I call, limper folds.

Turn: [6h] I check, button bets, I checkraise, button three bets, I fourbet, button calls.

River: [4s] I lead, button calls.

After rereading HEFAP last week, I ws trying to vary my preflop play a little - which so far on this game was raise with AK preflop and continuation bet since the table was pretty tight. Too aggressive on the turn or played well?

1. I don't know why you're kinda regretting they didn't hang around. With 2 clubs out there I want people to pay. For the sake of arguement if UTG raised with 2 clubs in his hand I don't want him to see cards cheap. I hate seeing a possible 4 flush on a board with TP. PF I tend tend cap with AKs but that's just mental thing falt calling is fine though OOP here.

2. Honestly I do this a lot in this position, I'm not sure it does me more harm that good though. When someone cold calls a PF raise and dosen't seem to be concerned about the A there. He might have 2 pair here or TT, but I'm thinking calling down might be a better option here.

3. I don't mind your limp if your goal was to 3 bet, which I probably would prefer and might make the PF raiser even more wary. Especially if he was just raising because of his position. From there the hand would probably play out a bit differently. As played I would pretty much agree with what has been said.
