questionable play on the river?

Postby Trons » Sat Aug 11, 2007 8:48 am

PokerStars 0.10/0.20 Hold'em (10 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with KImage, QImage.
4 folds, Hero raises, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Table had been fairly tight, and I thought a raise (as first in) would limit the field...I guess I was wrong.

Flop: (10 SB) 3Image, KImage, 8Image (5 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, MP3 calls, Button folds, SB calls, BB calls.

TP...Don't care for the bet out by BB, but I figured I had to raise (to make FD's cold call 2 bets). I also figure if BB reraises, I'm probably beat...

Turn: (9 BB) 5Image (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, SB calls, BB calls.

I like this brick on the Turn, but the amount of people in the hand has me confused, not sure what they can all be calling with (TP worse kicker???)...I didn't see how I could give a free card here.

River: (13 BB) JImage (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, MP3 calls, SB folds, BB folds.

This card kind of scared me, I honestly thought somebody would have stayed in the hand (especially BB) with KJ...I didn't know what I should do, but I did know that I would have the odds to call if somebody bet, so I figured I'd be the bettor. if somebody raised, I'd still have to make a crying call (MP3 was my fear at this point). This is where my play kind of feel apart...and I'm looking for the most critque.

Final Pot: 15 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Kc Qs (one pair, kings).
MP3 has Th Kd (one pair, kings).
Outcome: Hero wins 15 BB.

I haven't looked at results yet, but I am thinking you have to bet this river. I think it's a bet/fold. smaller PP's are calling here, KJ probably doesnt go for check raise so I think you are in good shape. Pure value bet on river I think.

If he had KJ, so be it.
