Should I have capped?

Postby Gnosis » Tue Feb 15, 2005 1:08 am

I have about 200 hands against the BB - he is fairly solid, plays some weak hands in MP occasionally, he also plays his draws passively, has a PF agression of 1.7. I was wondering if I should have capped on the turn or river?

Ultimate Bet 5/10 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with [Ad], [As].
4 folds, MP2 calls, Hero raises, 3 folds, BB calls, MP2 calls.

Flop: (6.40 SB) [Ah], [Tc], [2s] (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, BB calls, MP2 calls.

Turn: (4.70 BB) [3h] (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets, BB raises, MP2 folds, Hero 3-bets, BB calls.

River: (10.70 BB) [Qh] (2 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 16.70 BB

BB has Ac Qd (two pair, aces and queens).
Hero has Ad As (three of a kind, aces).
Outcome: Hero wins 16.70 BB.

I'm no expert, but I definately think you should have. If it were no limit, my stack would be in, but since it was limit, I would have settled for capping.
Partake in my bollocks, bloody chav!

The turn you 3-bet, so no chance to cap. With a PFA of 1.7, he's probably not semibluff check-raising a draw on the turn, so I think it's possible to put him on a made hand there. Tough to make that read in the heat of the moment though.
