A strange AK hand

Postby growlers » Mon Jan 01, 2007 10:14 pm

Here's an interesting one. The game was 4-8 with a 1/2 kill at Red Rock Station.
I have no reads on either player as MP1 just sat down liiterally this hand (you don't have to post at this room) and UTG was only in for 1 orbit.

Dealt to me in SB: [Ad] [Kh]
UTG limps, MP1 raises to $8, everyone else folds, I choose to just call after BB folded out of turn, UTG calls.

Flop ($28) [Qc] [Jh] [5d] I check, UTG checks, MP1 bets $4, I call, UTG now checkraises, MP1 calls, I call.

Turn (pot $52) [Ac] I check, UTG checks, MP1 bets $8, I call, UTG checkraises to $16, MP1 calls, I call

River: (pot $100) [2h] What is my play here?
What if UTG bets and MP1 calls? Do I call?
If it is bet and raised I am folding.

I will say off the bat I usually 100% of the time three-bet preflop against an unknown with AK out of the blinds (I know some of you don't) - but I just varied my play here as I had been betting alot of flops with air and people were starting to go after me, so I wanted to disguise the strength of my hand.
Feel free to rip my on the rest of the hand, I think I fucked it up so that is why I am posting it!

This is a weird hand with the same guy checkraising twice. Have to figure he's strong here. The turn has two close decisions which aren't too huge, but the biggest thing in my mind is getting away from it on the river. In this spot, I call the 2nd turn bet with the hopes of improving since the pot is large. The river blanks, it's very tough for both guys to have a worse hand than you here. MP might have AK as well, but it's doubtful that you have EP beat here with his gigantic show of strength.

Without reading much else.

I insta 3 bet this PF. You got somebody who's showing aggression, and you have a prime holding. Push them around a little bit.

I debating Leading or CR the turn, but the flat calls are WEAK! WEAK DAMN YOU WEAK!.

And what's with this varying your play crap?? They've been in for a total of 11 hands or so between them. Ok, the advertising value to the other players that you lose here is BY FAR offset by the potential winnings in this pot. Play this one hard and fast. Let them describe their hands to you, don't keep yourself guessing. You are going to gain more from putting the squeeze on them, than from letting them take the initiative.
