The Anatomy of J6o

Postby MecosKing » Sun Jun 19, 2005 3:05 pm

Okay, one more post - this hand is a tribute to our rocky friend, although i cant claim it to be a truly piers-inspired hand, because even though my j6o was in the BB, i didnt play it for a raise. And, it cant claim to be a true MK hand because i didnt raise it into the blinds, so i dunno where that leaves it. But here it is at any rate - my thinking throughout this hand is interesting.

Dealt to AKsoGay [Jc] [6h] (BB Special)
mav_fan41 folds.
dolllabilz folds.
sychnurse folds.
bangkoknight calls [$5].
(SIDENOTE: Lemme just say how much i Fing disapprove of this move that i am seeing more and more - where people make blind steals by LIMPING from the SB then betting into any flop. I think this sucks sucks sucks -- but limping from the SB is probably as common in the games i play as raising is- and its just as much of a steal attempt)
AKsoGay checks.
** Dealing Flop ** [6c] [Th] [Kc]
bangkoknight bets [$10].
AKsoGay raises [$20]. <--F this mizor i laize!
bangkoknight raises [$20]. <---RERAISE?!?!
(Okay he three bet me. At this point, i put him on a draw/attempted steal. The reason for this is that if he had a king that was good enough to 3 bet, hed either have raised before the flop and/or gone for a turn CR.
AKsoGay calls [$10].
** Dealing Turn ** [ Ks ]
bangkoknight bets [$20].
AKsoGay calls [$20].
** Dealing River ** [ 8s ]
bangkoknight checks.
AKsoGay bets [$20]. <--VALUE BET! Muhahaha!
bangkoknight folds. <---NIIHAN!
AKsoGay does not show cards.
AKsoGay wins $138

Anyways, what was the point of this post again? uhm..uh...i guess that every once innawhile you gotta trust your read and be a station.
For me usually though, i dont trust me reads, and thats why im a station. O well.

I agree, again.

Thanks for keeping great stuff flowing while piers is away! Oh, and that hand? POETRY. What happened, IMHO, is that your raise followed the strategy of playing back at a TAG. He re-raised you because he figured you may have had him beat then, but he wanted to buy a free card to draw to his flush (Ax suited). His lead and your call on the turn probably scared him more, because he's figuring that you're just sucking him dry.

His check on the river is WEAK WEAK WEAK. Your value bet takes the pot. Poetry man.
