Oh dear. A lot of the times you see someone look like they are outclassed there is a damn good chance they are simply getting much much worse cards. Heads Up LHE is the epitome of the long run. 200 BB swings left and right. It could take you 5,000 hands playing against someone to realize that they aren't just getting lucky, but in fact they are the one with the edge. Now look at the rake. When you're playing $3/$6 and paradisepoker is getting .50 every hand, you need a GIGANTIC edge to overcome that. It is the most mentally draining game I've played. After an hour and a half of heads up LHE online I feel like I need a cat nap.

That being said, I looooove heads up LHE. I think it's a really fun game and since you're playing so so so many hands per hour, you should be able to make a nice amount if you've got an edge. I really have no idea what these guys make in BB/100.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.

thanks for your comments, xas.

fwiw, the "outclassed" players that i referred to are specifically two players at the Cryptos. -- one at 50/100 and the other at 100/200. as an observer, i was able to do a pretty good job of putting them on hands -- their style was fairly transparent. furthermore, i could spot traps that the more-talented player was laying, and the outclassed player walked right into them. there may have been some psych stuff going on that i didn't see or notice, but the outclassed players looked completely dominated, and i the winning players were winning players in other instances i watched them play.

as for rake, yeah, you pretty much need REALLY soft competition, or you need to play at larger stakes. this is, in fact, one of my current dilemmas. if i dedicate myself to this, i really need to be playing AT LEAST 20/40 in order to beat the rake and make a good hourly. the mid-limits lose too much to rake given the competition (or seem to). that being said, some sites are better than others regarding rake, and some levels have enough soft play to more than make up for the rake.

i also agree that an hour or two is quite draining, but that's usually all i really have time for anyway.
