thanks for your comments, xas.
fwiw, the "outclassed" players that i referred to are specifically two players at the Cryptos. -- one at 50/100 and the other at 100/200. as an observer, i was able to do a pretty good job of putting them on hands -- their style was fairly transparent. furthermore, i could spot traps that the more-talented player was laying, and the outclassed player walked right into them. there may have been some psych stuff going on that i didn't see or notice, but the outclassed players looked completely dominated, and i the winning players were winning players in other instances i watched them play.
as for rake, yeah, you pretty much need REALLY soft competition, or you need to play at larger stakes. this is, in fact, one of my current dilemmas. if i dedicate myself to this, i really need to be playing AT LEAST 20/40 in order to beat the rake and make a good hourly. the mid-limits lose too much to rake given the competition (or seem to). that being said, some sites are better than others regarding rake, and some levels have enough soft play to more than make up for the rake.
i also agree that an hour or two is quite draining, but that's usually all i really have time for anyway.
wwcrd?
