I hope this is the correct forum for this post as I am fairly new but very happy to be a member of BTP. I've learned so much in the short time I have been here. Any-hoo I have some questions for those of you out there who are more expierenced and may have some valuable information they would be kind enough to share. First of I have read alot of books on poker such as SS 1, Theory of Poker, Cloutier's NL HE ect. and I have studied these texts but I would like some opinions from you guys and gals about a NL cash game. At my local B&M casion they offer $100 max buy in NL with blinds of 1/2. First off what would be a reasonable bankroll needed to play this game. I suspect the answer to this would be 2G's or so but that may not be enough(or is it?). What if I have less then this to play, say 500 or so. I realize this is riskey because of SD but..in theory.... If I do decide to play in this game with around 500 or so what are some suggestions as far as hands to play. Here is an example of what I mean. Say I'm in late position and I have wired 9's, it folds to me and I raise to $10, and it's folded to the SB and he calls as well as the BB. Flop comes out 10,7,2 off. SB checks and BB who has been playing for a bit has about 350 in front of him(I have under 100 say 90 or so) and he comes out and bets 150 into the $30 pot. Now I realize this is a question that has alot of factors to it such as my read on the guy ect. but what is a good way to handle this situation? If these much bigger stack keep doing this kind of stuff? I know that it is recomended to call w/pp's if the better has a certain % of chips in front of him in relation to the raise and obviously raise w/ premium hands ect. but how are these matters handled best. Another example:Say I have AKo in middle position with a couple of limpers in front of me. I raiase to $15(too much?) and get 5 callers. Now the flop comes out A,10,4(2 hearts, I dont have one). It checks to me do I.......? A.Bet the pot to try and single it out(which may not work anyways becuase of the bigger stacks in the game) B.Bet half the pot and try to get some flush draw chasers in there to build a pot. C. Obviously checking is a mistake. I guess I am mistified in how to get good value out of your hand. I realize that building pots is more common in Limit but.. what are some good strategies to employ in this type of game. It just seems a little wierd when people bet $90 into a 10 dollar pot. I do realize that aggression is key in NL and I do employ it alot in NL tourneys but this seems so much different. It just feels that its all in or nothing after the flop or turn. Obviously I would want to limp with suited connectors if I can get in cheap(right?) But what if I flop a 4 flush draw and an extreme bet comes in giving me horrible pot odds to call my draw(What is the best thing to do here) I got in cheap and i flopped a hand that certainly has appeal. I would really be interested in some strategies that some of you would apply in this type of a game. Please keep you verbal lashings to a calm roar please(just kidding). Thanks for all the help.
