Why are we investing 1/3-1/2 stack 4betting when we're only going to flop a pair or better 1/3 of the time?

i think people tend to 3 bet light and play tight vs a 4bet
so 4bet with AK is fine i guess
i'm folding JJ and QQ to 4 bets a lot, but that's just my weak tightness i guess
