200nl - is it possible to not lose my stack?

Postby Stelvask » Sun Mar 06, 2005 9:18 pm

I'm relatively new to the table, with no reads on anyone.

I have a full stack at $200. i just barely have my opponent covered. 1/2 blinds.

I get [As][3s] in the SB. an EP player limps. I limp, BB checks.

3way pot. $6.

[Ts][9s][7h] - i bet $4. BB folds. EP calls.

$14 pot. heads up.
[8c]. I bet $6 again. I meant to bet $8 but misclicked. EP calls.

$26 pot. heads up
[Js]. I bet $25. he raises it up to $75.

Someone please reassure me that there's no way i can possibly smooth call here and not lose $200 to his [Ks][Qs].

You played it just fine.
You put the money in as a favorite, with no way of knowing that he caught a one-outer to his straight flush.

I do not think there is a player here who would not hand over their stack in that situation.

Reload, and take down his next King high flush with your A high flush.

The only way Im not losing my stack with an ace high flush to a straight flush is when 4 cards to the straight flush are on the board. In that case I wouldnt reraise the river which I assume is what you did.

lose the stack, you win more off the people with [6s] [7s] in the long run that a despicable straight flush.
