64s is the immortal nuts... at least this time

Postby Stoneburg » Tue Jul 12, 2005 11:04 am

Standard table, pretty passive, me and the others involved have about a buy-in each. No reads.

PoPasi : Folds
inkleburt : Folds
jessy83 : Calls for 0.20
Stoneburg : Calls for 0.20 [6s] [4s]
magnipagni : Folds
Wrath3 : Folds
MacExcelsior : Folds
LennAA : Folds
Elegie : Checks

Well so maybe it's a *tad* loose to call with 64s in MP...

Flop $0.70 [As] [2s] [5c]
------------------
Elegie : Checks
jessy83 : Checks
Stoneburg : Bets 0.80
Elegie : Folds
jessy83 : Calls for 0.80

Turn $2.30 [Jh]
------------------
jessy83 : Checks
Stoneburg : Bets 1.40
jessy83 : Calls for 1.40

River $5.10 [3d]
------------------
jessy83 : Checks

Should I have checked behind on the turn? How much do I bet at the river?

well, because he keeps calling you, he might have a bigger flush draw. Probably not. I would bet $3, whatever the price to get his A8-ish hand to call.

I would have cheked behind on the turn. A free card when you are drawing is always a good thing. Had you checked behind on the turn the pot would still have been $2.30 and I probably would have thrown out $3 or so. With the pot $5.1, I would have thrown out $5, and in both cases hoped like hell he raised me up!

I had a hard time putting him on a hand by the river. At the end, only a flush draw or a weak ace made sense so I decided to BTP and hope he can't fold an Ace.

Result:
He calls another $5 and flips over a very poorly played QQ
