I did not know the hands until after I folded. I sometimes call a raise (in this case $12, I think) with a marginal hand hoping to flop a monster. Example is cold calling in the BB with 76o for $15. I flopped the nut straight rainbow and made $300. Implied odds.
The problem is you need to know when to fold'em which is the hard part.
Last night this tendency of mine cost me some chips.
I was UTG+2 and using my loose image I raised to $20 with

and got 4 callers which is expected.
The flop was
![The Three of Diamonds [3d]](https://pofex.com/images/smilies/3d.gif)
so I bet $40 into $100 pot and got 3 callers. This was not expected.
The turn was

and I felt in my stomach that I was beat.
(I figured the young Asian man called my $40 with something with a King in his hand. He must have a better kicker than mine. If I check he is going to bet into me and I am screwed blue and tattooed yellow {old army saying}. I am going to be put to a very tough decision. Best is to bet and if raised then fold.)
I bet $100 and got raised all in. I thought it over and the only hand he could have IMO was
![The King of Clubs [Kc]](https://pofex.com/images/smilies/Kc.gif)
. So far I had lost $160 and it would cost me $180 to find out if I was beat.
Humm. I asked myself if I could lay down trip kings as planned? If yes, I was either a great play or a weak player. Since, I am not a great player that left only one choice.
I stood up, said I know you have Ace King, but I can not fold this and called. He showed

.
The river was
![The Ace of Hearts [Ah]](https://pofex.com/images/smilies/Ah.gif)
.
He said how did you know that I had Ace King since I only called your flop bet. I said I knew that was the only hand you could have. I took my last $110 and went home to consider my strategy.
Since I could not fold the trip Kings with a marginal kicker then I need to stop playing marginal hands in any position or learn to fold'em.
The same goes with draws. Fold'em unless the odds are very good.
Don't lose your entire stack in an unraised pot or with only one pair.
