affecting my play??

Postby tommyhawk » Tue Jul 19, 2005 9:06 pm

Hi all,

I play 3 sorts of games. Being NL cash, stngs and multies. I do well in all three but the STNGs are were I make most money. I like the multies a lot and have won a few but the problem with them is that you can have a long period of not having a descent win.

I don’t always have the time to sit in a sit and go so I play some NL ring.
I had a few hands lately that I am paying off someone when I know I am beat.
I would like some comments on the next hand which is typical of my bad run lately.

I am in 2 off the button and I am excited when I finally see KK. ( $50 Stars ).
UTG limps and I raise to $2 one caller late position and now UTG raises to $4.
Strange I reraise $8 to see if he has got the AA. Late player folds UTG calls.

Flop 7 J 6 two hearts …UTG checks I bet $12 he calls. 2 of clubs on the turn.
He checks again and at this point I am not really happy. I can’t but bet I think to myself. I bet $20 in to $42 pot ( doing this by head I could be off a few dollars ) he calls me again.
River is 10 diamonds he now bets my remaining $20 or so. Ok I am beat I am almost sure. In a multi table I can fold here but I cant here so I call.
He has trip jacks.

Is the fact that I am playing 3 different game types affecting my play at the NL ring??
I know I can play good at NL because my stats say so but I am feeling like a big sucker the last 4 days.

Advice needed.

I go thru periods of low discipline too. Like I know my two pair isn't good as the only hand he should be playing that strong is bottom set, and yet i'm still ramming and jamming. I make a monkeyed up move into the nuts and when I do hold the nuts they get outdrawn.

What to do? My answer for me is fold more, play better cards. I don't get too hung up on my mistakes to not note the good plays I make inbetween blundering, but try to heed my errors to keep from making errors.
