Thing is you wouldn't expect a decent player to mess around on that flop if he has a set or 2 pair on the flop - he might go for the C/R, but that board is too scary to slowplay with a check-call for most. Of course if he is slowplaying a set on the flop he is 50/50 to have you beat.
So that means he like the 9.

[Qs] or have hit a set with 99. Does he raise from MP with K9 or J9? I'd figure maybe only if suited.
Like you I sit and look at that action and QT just looks like a big part of his range.
Let's figure what hands make him really like that 9...
He has 3 ways to make 99, 1 way to make J9s, 3 ways to make K9s and fully 16 ways to make QT.
Even adding a few 'Xaston' pushes to his range and noting the money in the pot (and your 20% cahnce to suck out) I'm not sure I hate a fold here.
That said, at the table, I'm making that crying call 100% of the time...
