The problem i have with your article is it presupposes that experience. Its completely unhelpful to learning players. It really seems more like a defense of 'the Iceman way' than providing insight we can use in our learning.
Sure you can become a great player without learning the math, but its going to be a hell of lot harder that with and you're going to essentially learn by paying for mistakes over and over. Plus you may internalize fundamentally unsound habits if the cards run skewed and you arent analyzing the results from an objective viewpoint, which math does. If you can do a little math you've saved yourself some of that time, money, and stress. Why would you ever ignore such a powerful tool?
