3 Bet Gone Wrong Then Gone Right (200NL 6max)

Postby T-Rod » Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:25 am

Prima 200NL.

CO is the fish that has attracted me to this pond. He runs 55/15/1. He rarely bets and loves to call. He has a quad stack.

CO limps
SB is a TAG 20/7/2 guy. He raises to 8

I have been 3betting my SCs as an experiment. I reraise to $26 with 8[d] 9[d]

Co calls and after considerable thought so does SB.

Flop (78) 8[s] A[d] 3[c]. SB checks. I now chicken out as calling a raise with any ace is definitely within CO's hand range.

CO bets $39. SB folds. I think and call.

Turn ($156) 8[c].

Questions:
1) Do you like/dislike turn check/call?
2) What's the best way to play it from here? CRAI? Lead 1/2 pot? Check/call and shove river?

Since when is 8[d] 9[c] suited, in your experiment of 3 betting SCs?

Personally I try to avoid doing such thing vs 50/15 calling station guys. It is rarely possible to bluff them off a hand, and I do not hit big often enough for it to be profitable. I found better to wait for big hands, and just call when in position with the SCs for the most part.

I think stack sizes are important here to decide how to proceed. You obv want all the money in the pot. Assuming villain started with 200, and the pot is 156, his bet should almost be all in?

1st of all [9c][8d] isnt a SC. Secondly, I would never do this from OOP.

Back to the hand. If your sure that the cutoff is going to stack off with an ace then the turn call is OK, although I just dont like chasing so I wouldve folded.

Now that you hit the miracle if you dont double up, you screwed up on the turn, so I dont think you can let him check behind if he has a weak ace or something like QQ.

I lead $60.

Why are you isolating the TAG with a crappy hand, when the CO is the fish?

As played I like a CRAI on the turn. If he checks behind shove river if its not an A.
