Calling pre-flop shoves ($100NL 6-max)

Postby stickdude » Tue Apr 22, 2008 12:46 pm

This is maybe my 3rd orbit at the table, and it's already the 4th or 5th time I've seen villain shove pre-flop like this - raised pot, unraised pot - doesn't matter. He just up and shoves out of the blue.

$0.5/$1 No Limit Holdem
6 players
Converted at

Stacks:
UTG ($98.00)
UTG 1 ($103.08)
Hero ($108.30)
BTN ($99.00)
SB ($150.70)
BB ($191.45)

Pre-flop: ($1.5, 6 players) Hero is CO [8d][8h]
1 fold, UTG 1 calls $1, Hero calls $1, BTN calls $1, SB goes all-in $150.7, 1 fold, UTG 1 folds, Hero ?????

If you don't call this one, how much better does your hand need to be before you'll call a maniac shove?

I like your play of limping with 88 alot better if you are planning on calling the shove, but otherwise yeah raise it up you might actually stop him from shoving.

I like to gambool so I'd probably call with the 88 if he's really open shoved 5 times already in 3 orbits.

Other wise I think TT+ and AJ+ are going to be calls for me.
