You can, however, check behind on the turn. You want 99-22 to think they could be good and you want to lose less the times he has you beaten. I am happy with 2 streets of value from this hand.
Alternatively, you could think about checking the flop. Again the idea is to get more from lower pairs. This is more risky than the turn line because you don't want an AKQ to come on the turn. But with AA/KK I think this is a standard flop check behind.
