He cant have a flush, can he?

Postby iceman5 » Mon Feb 25, 2008 5:19 pm

$1/$2 NL 6 max

Never seen villain before but when putting myself on waiting lists, I saw him on numerous tables. He just sat with a full $200.

I raise $7 UTG+1 with [Ah][Ks]. He calls in BB.

Pot $15. Flop [Kd][8s][7s]. He check / call my $12.
Pot $39. Turn [5s]. He leads out $40. I seriously doubt he has a flush. Almost nobody play it that way. Whats my move?

The flush seems very strange, I agree. Set or 2 pair (probably on flop) don't seem so strange to me. Maybe even 69, if those at 1/2 will play that to a raise OOP (I wouldn't but at lower stakes a lot do).

I do tend to think you're behind, although maybe As8something is also in there.

I'm kind of on the fence between call and fold. You're only really ahead here if that's a bluff bet, and I don't entirely see it. But maybe you have some fold equity with your shove, too. I don't think a set is laying down, but it puts a lot of pressure on anything else.

I am leaning towards a fold, but its close. I think a set is a pretty likely holding and a flush is definitely possible.

I could see calling and folding non-spade rivers as a turn call may cause his river betting range to be mostly hands that beat us.

I meant those questions to be rhetorical
They're why I don't think shoving is good.
