In a blind battle he can and will call with Kx IMO. His thought process will be (assuming he thinks you're a decent player too): "Well, that turn card didn't change anything unless he had KT which he wouldn't have bet so strongly on the turn, or AJ which he wouldn't have bet at all on the turn. If I'm calling the turn with my Kx I need to call the river too."
