DONT FOLD A SET IN A RAISED POT

Postby Kalle » Sat Jul 23, 2005 10:33 am

400NL. I limp UTG with 66. Tight player, passive preflop, miniraises, I call. I have $460, he covers. Flop is QT6r. I check, he bets $8, I call. Turn 4. I check, he bets $20, I checkraise to $60, he makes it $150. I fold.

I made several mistakes in this hand. I now make an even bigger one and tell him (and the table) I folded 66. He says he had AA. I cry

In raised pots, I agree fully with a NEVER fold policy--maybe unless QJT all of one suit is staring you in the face with your TT.

I also strongly recommend the move of making a big raise on the flop with a set. The more I do it, the more I like it. On that one, you bet maybe $16 into the $16 pot (or whatever it is). AA raises, and you move in. AA will usually call you here unless he's really good--and most people aren't... (thank God!).

MY dear God Kalle!!!

I would lose my life with that hand...definetely I would. You didnt say it was (the board) suited or anything. Why did you fold?

If it's live, and something inside you told you to fold, then good for you for folding!

Did the guy SHOW you his aces, or just TELL you he had them?
