Fold KK here?

Postby AlamdeaMike » Wed Jul 13, 2005 12:55 pm

I folded KK here. I meant to bet $16 and the mouse slipped to $20. In any event I got one caller who I assumed would only call with something like an Ace.

I did not feel like betting the flop to see where I was.

Comments?

I fire a bet out at this pot anyway. He could have called with QQ, JJ, or even TT. No way you know until you bet.

If I am him I do the same thing when you check to me.

Most likely he had an A but you don't know until you bet.

I figured that he would call a continuation bet of 1/2 - 2/3 pot and then on the Turn I would be forced to either bet it or check it.

I would have to bet at least $30 to win $46. If he called then what?

I just decided to give up on it. Save my money.

Kind of weak tight but I am winning on this table.

Thanks

hmm..

well he may have an A but you can't let this hand go right away, I don't think. Unless you had a read on your opponent that he plays any A

but I look at it from his view. If I have QQ and raise me up and I decide to see the flop and a A hits and you check I immediate think you have TT-KK, or AQs.

so I am betting too if I am him

you only need to win 3 of 4 to be making money. Many people will call a raise with any pocket pair and even KQ and other junk

you have to bet, but then again I don't know what type of read you have here and since you are winning I wouldn't maybe listen to me too much

just my opinion

The right move is to bet out for sure. He was new to the table. I felt that he had an Ace but he could have bet the flop with any hand.

I just did not feel like I had the winner.

Thanks

With him giving me 4:1 I would be tempted to call and more tempted to make check raise to $30 or so and seeing where we stand after that. His flop bet is very weak to the size of the pot and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a smaller pair.

If you do just call the $12, unless he has something stellar the rest of this hand is checking down 80% of the time.

Actually, you are right. I did not focus on the amout of the bet. $12. I was disappointed that an Ace hit.

I need to pay better attention to what is going on. I though that he bet 1/2 the pot.

yeah, looks like I muffed this hand.

Thanks

I dont know about that rdale. If I was the caller and Hero raised $20 and then only called my $12, I would put him on KK/QQ every time.

I would fire away on the turn with no ace.

Thanks Thesis - very good point. Much of NLHE is perception and not fact. Since many players raise UTG with hands like AA, KK, QQ and AK of which AK is the most often occurring hand then a bet would be expected.

I bet $40 on this flop. Fire a continuation bet! Let it go if he calls.
