5/5 Frustrating hand

Postby idog519 » Mon Feb 14, 2005 3:41 pm

5/5 NL, I have about $400 remaining after buyin in for $500. I get 10s7s in the Small blind. There is a raise to $20 from Mcullay Culkin (this doesn't mean much b/c he was raising almost every pot). Two callers after him, I decide to call and a guy in EP calls. Flop comes Ks Jd 7s. Nice flop for me. What do you guys do? Bet out or check. I decided to check to see what my opponents actions where. I felt good about my possibilities of winning the hand if I hit my flush or the other 7. Given the preflop action I didn't think anybody had a strong hand. Anyways, it gets checked around the turn brings the Qs giving me the 2nd nut flush and a redraw to the straight flush. With $120 in the pot and most likely the best hand I bet $75. EP calls me. The river is another Q. What do you guys do. I lead out for $100. What do you guys think? Should I have gone into check call mode. EP goes all in, basically putting me all in. I've invested $200, the pot has over $600 and its another $200 to me. What do you guys do? What does he have? Would love to see who gets closest to guessing his hand. Results after a few posts...I know what you guys are goign to say...why are you playing 107s from the small blind. My response is these two gapers are a great way to surprise your opponent if you play well on the flop and are willing to deal with the variance. Comments appreciated.

I would have folded preflop but since you saw the hand, I like your play. I think its unlikely that he has a boat from the way he played the hand. I'm assuming you errored on the flop seeing as you have the 7s, so its Js. Either way, I think I probably would call and see his trip queens or possibly a straight. You aren't gonna get that much better of a board for that hand since with so little action a boat is unlikley.

I check/call the river. If he was on another club draw or something and missed..he will bet trying to represent something big..giving you extra money.

If he does have you beat...he will most likely value bet, which saves you a lot of money in the hand.
