I got sooooo out played

Postby iceman5 » Wed May 11, 2005 11:33 am

$1/$2NL at Party. EP limps, I limp in MP with Ax of spades. Cutoff min raises, button calls, EP calls and I call.

Pot is $18 I think. The flop comes J94 with 2 of my spades. EP checks, I check, cutoff bets $15, button calls, EP folds and I call.

Pot is $63. The turn is a low spade. I check, cutoff checks, button bets $20 I check raise to $75 which outs the button all in. Cutoff folds. and the button calls.

The river is another 4. The cutoff had 99 and wins. He goes on and on for 15 mins about he outplayed me.

Man I feel like quitting poker because I was sooooooo outplayed.

i got one that tops that. wasn't in the hand, but it was funny as hell to watch.

6-handed 2/4nl.

i fold utg. UTG+1 raises to 16. CO calls. Button folds. SB reraises all in for $75 total. UTG and CO both call.

$225 pot to the flop, which comes Ace high with two clubs. check check

Turn a low club.. utg checks again. CO bets $20. utg calls.

rivers another low club. check check again.

UTG shows TcTx, CO shows ATo. SB shows A5o. UTG wins with the flush.

CO then goes on about how lucky UTG was to win the pot, and how he was an idiot for calling a bet with tens when there wasn an ace on board, and how he KNEW that UTG had a PP, and that's why he bet so small with his ace, because he was playing him, and i quote "like a fiddle".

CO continued playing until he had blown $750, and then called us all a number of names, cursed poker stars, and vowed never to play on the site again.

guys like him are funny

Lol, I was almost shocked by the title of the post when I read it. It's not often that I hear a poker player being humble. I should have known it was a set-up for sarcasm.

As a side note ice - I know that you have mentioned that you have the bankroll for bigger games, namely the 5/10NL on party - why are you still playing the 1/2? (If you dont mind me asking.) There are plenty of fish at the 2/4, 3/6 and 5/10. Do you have a better win-rate to compensate for the lower limit? Just curious.

Wow Ice you are such a fish, only an idiot puts all their money in the pot as a 5:1 favorite, stupid plays like that will destory your bankroll. I'd go back to your usual weak tight play and fold to anything that isnt quads or better.

Stelvask, you forgot to mention the betting on the flop. Was it a $20 bet into a $200 pot from the ATo guy?

Last month I played all $2/$4 until about the 20th. I had some horrible outdraws in some big pots and really wasnt having fun playing because of it. I still won $60/hr playing 3 tables, but decided to play $1/$2 again for "a couple days"

After winnning $80/hr for the 1st 10 days, I just stayed there. For me its much more fun playing stress free and its not like Im taking a big hit $$ wise.

I did play some $5/$10 in the past couple days and did well but the stress level is very high compared to lower stakes.

I have about $40000 in my roll mainly because I just cant find enough things to spend it on. Ive bought more things that I didnt need in the past 6 months than ever before in my life. Im typing this msg from beautiful Miami Beach (and I mean ON the beach). Im on vacation at the expense of bad poker players so its not like a cheapskate or anything.

Like I said, theres only so many things I can spend it on and since I dont need any of this money to live on, I prefer to play middle stakes games that I can play happily and not stressed out at every big hand.

These are probably dumb reasons for not playing higher, but theyre my reasons and I like them.

That was a funny hand. I get some of those once in a while, someone keeps calling pot size bets with 2nd pair and get 2-pair on the river, then they think they player great.

Ice, great to see you're doing so well. That's my goal also, make some money outside work. And it's so nice because it's hard to save money from the salary, but the poker income is all "savings". It would be nice to meet some of the guys on this forum. Maybe when someone goes to Vegas, since I'm not that far from LA.

How about playing some tournaments, so we can see you on TV :) ? Are you more succesfull at ring games or you play tournaments also regularly?

lol, I was wondering about this one, too, when I read the title--was afraid you were having another "problem phase"... :)

All I can say is, "Keep up the good work!" Oh, and, by the way, I think your bankroll management at those stakes is also a major part of the good work...

if you don't mind my asking ice, what was your roll when you first started, and how long did it take you to get to 40k (or to whatever the total number is that you've made in poker, since you spend so much of your winnings)?
