Guess the hands for $6!!

Postby Mad Genius » Fri Feb 18, 2005 1:40 am

Alright. Since Kenny likes doing this so much I'm doing one as well. Unfortunately I don't have any hands that I can post right now, and most of the good ones that I played prior to quitting were posted here. So I'm pulling an old hand out of memory. This one was played about 6 months ago so you will have to excuse me if I don't remember the exact details.

Live $1/2NL

Near the end of a long session I'm sitting with about $900 (max buyin $300). The table is playing deep for a 1/2 game, and preflop raises were as big as $25. UTG (~$500) raises to $10 without looking at his cards. Needless to say he is a maniac. He was on tilt earlier and had to rebuy twice but has settled down a bit since he pushed for $200 preflop with K6s and outdrew QQ. He's pretty good postflop and pretty good in general but he has very deep pockets and likes to mess around occasionally. A player in MP calls and I make it $40 in the CO. I'm known to be tight normally but LAG when I have a big stack. UTG then calls BLIND and MP folds.

Pot is $90. Flop comes AJ5r. He checks in the dark and I bet $30. He then pulls in one of his cards, looks at it, and raises to $100. I call.

Pot is $290. Turn comes 5. He checks. He still hasn't looked at his other card, no joke. I bet $100. Now he looks at his other card. He moves in immediately. I call.

Again the numbers may be slightly off but this hand was so weird/unusual that I remember it fairly accurately. And...since Kenny gives away $5, I've gotta give $6 to the winner.

I'll give results Saturday night. You can guess til then.

This is really difficult, but anyway:

You have AJ, he has A5.

Totally wrong, close or absolutely correct?

The last guess that no one has made...

You AA
Maniac A5

Chances are so slim that it must be the truth. Although I like the him AA you 55 guess.

if i had a team of slaves they'd be put to work posting every single hand permutation possible, it's not like they'd have anything better to do, but then, i don't either at the moment

You have AA because your flop & turn bets are both looking for calls.

He could have any damn thing. One of his cards is an A, J, or 5. The other one could be anything, and he's trying to make you fold with his instantaneous all-in push.

But, well, he's tricky so maybe his second card hit the board too. I'll say, umm, AJ. That's just about the only combo that hasn't been chosen yet. He may put you on AK.
