How to play vs. blind raise

Postby mitcheze » Fri Feb 18, 2005 2:58 pm

1-2 NL $100 max. player A has $300, I have $200.

UTG is a loose player and decides to raise to $15 before the cards are even dealt. Player A is also rather loose and calls the raise before the cards are dealt. Great. I am on the button and get dealt the [Ac] [Tc] . My plan was to move all in preflop if it got folded to me, but the cut off seat smooth called the $15, so I dedided to call and see a flop.

The flop is [As] [Kh] [Td] . Checked to me, i lead out $25, the first blind raiser folds. The blind caller looks at his hand (for the first time) and moves all in over the top. Could he really have QJ? maybe AK or KK. anyhow, i call and he turns over [Kc] [Th] and i rake a huge pot. How would you guys have played the hand pre and post flop?

I'm confused as to why you would move-in over the top of this guy preflop?

Risking $200 agaist a loose player to win $15 or even $30 is well...gambling. A loose player my call you with a hand he's not supposed to...JJ, QQ etc.

As for the flop....I don't believe he would move allin with the nuts..most people don't do that. AK maybe though. I think you have to have a pretty good read on this player to be able to call this bet.
