How to play at this table? Or not at all

Postby Rhound50 » Wed Mar 02, 2005 12:05 pm

I had a bit of a frustrating run last night and I was hoping to get some advice. I played my usual 2/4nl last night, had a decent session, ended up $300. Bad part was I busted one of th fish and the game broke. The floorman offer me 1/2 which I decided to take. The problem was the 5 out of the 8 players at that table had over $400 and two had over $600 and the max they would let me buy in for is $100. I hate this crap, sitting at a table short stacked sucks. I argued with the floorman but he wouldnt let me buy in anymore. The table was like a party table, 5 players limp the button raises to $30 15X bb and everyone calls. My problem here is when this happens I dont have enough chips to do anything other than have to show down the best of it. I raise to $20 get 5 callers and now my all-in is less than the pot. With a big stack I sit and wait for the nuts and get paid off but with only $100, i found myseld calling 20% of my stack to see a flop with a PP. This is something I dont normally do but I really needed to double or tripple up to have any shot at really playing at this table.

My question is should I even play at this table?

The best thing to do is limp reraise all in any big pair. Or if theres a raise to $15 and a caller or 2...go all in then with a big pair (AA or KK preferably).

I would pretty much gamble a couple times to try to build a big stack. If I bust I'll rebuy a few times since it's only $100. When I get a real stack ($300 or more) I would play really aggressively and try to get every big hand heads-up to outplay the other guy. This type of game can be a gold-mine if you have a lot to play with but to get there you are gonna have to gamble a bit. Kind of like how you would play a rebuy tournament.
