Just make the same play against him when you hit a set after he raises

given the turn check (which i like), i think you have to call the river bet, especially b/c it was so big. he could have AA, AK, KQ/J, or a 2nd pair he can't laydown. no way a set makes that big a river bet there.

I don't really have a problem w/ the way you played it. You had viable options on every street...but you had AK and he had AA and you flopped top pair, and you got trapped. it happens.

Why the turn check?

Also, use the hand converter (link is to the left of the text area). Makes hands way easier to read, and gives pot size.

Tmac... I couldn't get the stupid hand converter to work (I've used it like 10000000 times), and got frustrated... Sorry if it's hard to read...

As for the turn check... I'm not really sure... Maybe cause I'm stupid... :D I really didn't have him on Aces after the check, but I didn't know what the hell he had after he called my raise, and I wanted to keep the pot small... His allin just looked fishy, so I called...

Yeah, I thought about questioning the turn check as well, but I think it's really the way to go. I think your flop raise is good, but could have been harder still--maybe $32? If he calls that, you're simply behind and done with the hand.

$25 is probably enough, but I think the main thing is that he can't even think of calling without AA or 99. Actually, your $25 is probably better than my $32. I don't see QQ or JJ staying in at that point. The only thing a larger flop raise might accomplish is getting a split pot to come your way rather than his. I dunno, $32 or maybe even up to $40 might be good against a weak-ish opponent (who'll lay down his AK there), but, at least judging from this hand, this guy seems tight and extremely aggressive (as ice pointed out, he's awfully confident in that AA on the river...)

First mistake, you are playing at a very tough table. APerfect10 (gee I wonder who that is) and KaMiKaZe19 are both TAGs.

Yeah, I saw AP10... I was gonna give some BTP love, but remember that he like 50 tables, and I'm sure he doesn't have time to type BS w/ me... who's Kamikaze?

Just my luck I play Party Poker, the land of the LAGGY fish, and I get stuck w/ 2 ringers... :D

Betting the turn might help you not get stacked bc he's probably trying to check raise you. If you bet like 2/3 pot or half pot and he goes allin then i think you have a pretty easy laydown.

Otherwise this hand was played pretty fine I think, just tough luck.

He has AA or AK here almost every time. It's just a matter of doing the math to figure out whether you will chop often enough to make the call profitable. My guess would be no.

I find that AP10's tables are bad luck for me. We basically avoid each other mostly even at the same table (actually he is so tight that that isn't hard) - it's just if i am up on two tables and down on one, it's always Ap10's I'm down on :)

He really must have me rated as a losing showdown muppet

I'm ruinning at 20ptbb/100 over the past two weeks and yet I'm sure he will have me logged as a loser over that time.. :o
