Not the min raise again (1/2 sh)

Postby kennyg » Sun Sep 09, 2007 5:32 am

cake

I raise up [Qc][Jc] on the button after a limper. The SB and limper call.

FLOP$24
[Qh][9s][2c]

SB checks, limper checks. I bet $18. SB calls. Limper folds.

SB is a donk but other than that I don't know too much about him specifically. He plays too many hands esp OOP.

TURN$ 60
[Qh][9s][2c] [2s]

He checks. I bet $36 as kinda a semi-weakish value bet since the turn is such a great card for my hand. Next thing I know opponent check min raises me too $72. He also only has about $75 left behind after the raise.

Personally I think that if I call the turn I'm forced to call the river (the pot will be around 275 with 75 to call after his last bet.) SO it's a fold the turn or get all the money in whichever way I can.

What should I choose?

Fold the turn. Nobody check minimum raises the turn without a big hand, and QJ does not even remotely qualify as a big hand here. Donks minimum raise their big hands because that's all they can think of to do. I don't put it past a donkey SB to have a 2 here. You have 2-5 outs here almost all the time, probably 2.

Am I crazy or does a turn check hee not sound good. there is only one real draw out, and I don' teven think a limper would call a raise OOP w/JT. by checking we exhibit some pot control because we are not in love with our kicker. Then we can just call the river bet as it compares to our chance of being ahead.

edit: Woops I see I just basically repeated what the above said.

Calling a raise from the blinds with JTo is standard on cake at NL200.

I like a check behind on the turn here.

RESULTS

I called the minraise and because of pot odds, was forced to call his river allin. I didn't like it at all. He showed [6h][2h] for trips
