TP oop (BB) vs LP PFR ($25NL 6-max)

Postby MTPaid » Sun Sep 09, 2007 5:21 pm

This is a situation I've been constantly having trouble with whether I bet out, c/r, or call down - TPGK oop (BB) vs LP raiser.
How can I win the most/lose the least with this? Or did I do it?

Opponent very aggressive Preflop - 26/26 40 WTSD after only 46 hands
I have full stack ($25) CO has $51

[Kd][Td] BB (5-handed)
CO raises to $0.85, I call

[Tc][6h][9s] Pot $1.80
I check, CO bets $1.20, I raise to $3.25

[4h] Pot $8.30
I bet $5, CO calls $5

[4d] Pot $18.30
Check, check

Is there a better line to take in this kind of situation on any street?

Fold preflop.

You get him to back off your blinds by 3betting AK/AQ and AA-TT, not by calling with hands that are easily dominated.

If he has 26/26 and he is in LP, I'd just 3-bet PF or fold. Most of the time he's got garbage trying to steal, so it's usually worth it to raise it to $3 or so and shut down on flop unless you hit like three of a kind or two-pair. Otherwise just fold.

Also, I would probably play the hand quieter, he's a calling station with 40 WTSD, if he has anything he's calling, and you want the pot to be nice and small if you can to reduce variance.

Just bad luck this time, but I'd probably play it slower in future. If you have a LAG, you want to tighten up and have him bet against you when you have the best hand.
