Operation Party Poker

Postby Rhound50 » Thu Apr 21, 2005 1:34 pm

Ok so most of you know I'm a pretty stuborn guy, so I have decided that I am going to win at party poker, there is no reason that I shouldnt be able to beat the garbage players at the $50 tables there. So heres the plan, I am going to data mine for a couple of days, right now I have 17 tables on my home computer all data mining with PT. After that its on, I have 10 buyins. I am going to create a journal seperate from my normal journal, there I will post hands and summeries. Party poker seems to be my unicorn, or for those who have seen gone in 60 seconds, my Elenor. Wish me luck.

Best of luck Rhound. The party 50's is pretty much my stomping ground and I think it's beatable, if a bit messy at times.

Some people don't like the "messy" (read: unpredictable) part, but I say that's why we play NL. With NL you should be able to structure your bets in such a way to adjust to some craziness and make them pay for it.

In March I started my NL forray at the 25 tables and pulled $600. April I decided to move up to the 50s and so far am up $300, though the graph has been jagged. I also dipped my toes in the 100 but dropped back down after I decided I wasn't ready.

I think data mining is always a good thing, but just know that it's going to take awhile on the Party 50s to have any noticable effect. I have 3000 players in my database over 20,000 hands and when I sit down there's typically 1-3 ppl I know, and 6-9 I don't know. Welcome to Party. I don't worry about it too much - I play tight to start, then normally after about 20-30 hands I have a decent, sometimes good, read on my table.

Just saying that's it's very hard to have data mined so much that when you start a table you know everybody. There's just too many new ppl coming in.

I've found the average 50 table has 1 or 2 maniacs, and 1 or 2 fishes/calling stations. Then there are rocks that play way too weak after the flop and they're good for money too.

Hope this was some help. Best of luck!

Schro, data mining 16 tables at a time, I pull 15k -20k hands per 24hrs, so I will probably have 50-100k before I actually start playing, what I really want to know are who are the good players to avoid which is what I have found the most usefull to me in the past. The maniacs and fish usually dont play enough to have PT be all that much use, usually the real maniacs blow a couple hundred and then stop playing. I also plan to use excersions advice and let Pt run for 15 min or more before I sit at any table.

Party poker has been really bad for me, I have had 4 seperate tries playing there and have yet to have any sucess. I have beaten every other site I have ever played at for any legnth of time, winning at party would be nice.

If you don't fold the best hand every once in awhile, you're probably not playing your best poker
