Postby briachek » Sun Jul 10, 2005 5:03 pm

Villain is new to the table. Do you check behind on the turn? If not, do you call all in? If you check behind, how much do you call on the river?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed)

CO ($50.15)
Button ($34.70)
SB ($22.25)
BB ($40.75)
Hero ($51.65)
UTG+1 ($46.65)
MP1 ($105.65)
MP2 ($39.50)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Qd], [Qs].
Hero raises to $2, 4 folds, Button calls $2, 1 fold, BB calls $1.50.

Flop: ($6.25) [2c], [7d], [Jh] (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $6, Button folds, BB calls $6.

Turn: ($18.25) [8d] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $12, BB raises to $32.75, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $63

Results in white below:
No showdown. BB wins $63.

I'd probably play it the same way... He's acting like he's got trips, or MAYBE 2pr... I'm folding to his raise too, especially without a read...

I'm definitely checking after the turn. That's a raggedy flop that someone with a set or QQ,KK,AA could easily slow play. So his check and then call of a $6 bet screams monster to me. After that, I'm hoping for a cheaper showdown.

How could you check behind that turn... it opens up all kinds of draws that'll kill you... If you check behind, are you ready to fold when any K,A, diamond, 6,9, or 10 hits...? I'd rather bet it out, and see where I stand there... He's obviously not afraid of an overpair with the raise, and I'd fold...

I check behind the turn because I'm guessing I'm behind in the hand now after he called a X4BB preflop raise out of position and then check-called a pot-sized bet. i have him for a set or even pp. I don't have him on a drawing hand.
