Pair and nice draw, stupid shorty gets in the middle

Postby Rhound50 » Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:33 pm

2/3 Live, I start the hand with $400, shorty has $70, and Villain has both of use covered.

I am the button with [7h] [6h]. MP who is also full stacked makes it $12, 2 callers in the middle shorty and Villain. Flop is [6s] [5h] [4s]. Checks to me, I bet $40. Villain who is solidly ABC calls quickly, shorty calls, leaving him less than $20. Turn is a [Kh], again it checks to me. Is there any value in a bet here? I am pretty sure Villain is on a draw but my chances of getting a fold from the shorty are zero and I'm still pretty much drawing? Treat this like a all in spot or bet and protect?

I cannot imagine doing anything other than betting here, if I were up against the shortstack alone I would be happy to get all in, add in the fact you think the solid abc is drawing and it makes a turn bet look good to me, especially if you hit that backdoor flush.

Ignore the shorty and do what you would normally do.

I'm a little surprised by the comments here. I wasn't really sure what to do at the time and I checked, river was spade, villain bet $100, shorty instacalled with K6, I mucked. My though process at the time was I wasn't really sure if I was ahead of shorty or not and i figured it was going to take a $100+ bet to push villain off his draw. I kinda thought the risk of my read being wrong and him actually having a big made hand was greater than my equity given that shorty wasn't going to fold anything.

As a side note what if I had [7h] [5h] or [7h] [4h], than what?

You couldnt have [h][h] ... but if you had

That's a monster! 2pr, + OESD, + BD flush draw = 19 outs if you dont already have the best hand!

m'allin....possibly bet/3bet all in on turn I'm thinking...
