I'm rusty...but still have some luck :)

I have no read on this guy..but he weak-led me 3 times in a row. At what point do you stop raising?? It's been like 5 days since I've played (moved to the city) so I'm feeling rusty.

Here's the hand:

2/4 NL
I'm dealt AJo in LP

Folded to me I raise to $16. Everyone folds except the small blind...who has a full stack.
He calls the raise.

FLOP $32
479 rainbow

He leads for $4. I have no draw or anything..but I see this weak lead very often..and they usally fold 75% of the time. I raise to $32. He calls.

TURN $96
4793 no flush possible.

He leads for $4 again. ugh. I don't want to call the bet...but I certainly don't wanna fold either for $4. I raise to $72. He calls.

RIVER $240

4793T

He leads for $4 again! yikes! It reaks weakness...and after all the money i put out there I feel I need to make another bet. So I raise to $150...to which he folds fairly quickly.

So guys.... I felt like I'm risking too much money here, for a hand with no possiblities. At what point do I stop? I'm thinking the turn...but I hate to call bets and the $4 bets are so weak anyway.

Suggestions and thoughts appreiecated. My play feels very rusty to me at the moment.

Wow that was a ballsy line. I get myself into trouble when I try to teach people lessons for making wimpy bets and simultaneously steal pots I should probably let go. I would have done the same on the flop, but probably given it up after the turn b/c it was getting so expensive.

Kenny... I would've raised the flop, and been crapping a little bit of a brick when he called... I may have not tried it again, but you have bigger balls than I do, and tried it again... There's no way in hell I do it a third time... glad it worked out for ya...

Guess movin to the Big City hasn't affected your game...

BTW... was this on TGC? Glad to see they have the same idiots at the 2/4 than at the 1/2NL games... :D

I did the same thing at Party $50NL with AK when I didn't think he hit either and ended up bluffing off $40 when he raised me all in on the turn. I had a nice profit going until that hand so this play doesn't look good to me. Glad it worked out well for you this time.

If they lead for the min and keep doing it, and keep calling your raises ... they could have anything. Players like that will make you a ton of money, if you wait until you catch a hand before you play back at them.

I see plays like this down at my $20 games. But I'm stunned to hear that anybody makes them at 20x the stakes.

If you're betting on a guy like this folding, you'll lose money over time. IMHO you got lucky. To judge from some of the people I play with, he could very well have had AA, and refused to lay it down to any bet.

I hope you'll have some reads/notes on this guy next time you sit down with him, btw. :)

I make that play from time to time w/ a set if im in EP knowing it looks weak and hope someone tries to push me off it as long as theres no draws out there.... If they just call it builds the pot.
