Set of Kings...what should I have done?

Postby digital scar » Sat Jul 23, 2005 1:03 pm

Ok, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get ripped on how I played this hand. I know, I know its bad but I was not sure how to play it. On the flop should I check/call? I got all my money in pretty quicky but there were alot of draws out there and if he is re-raising me he's gonna pay. I had no reads on the guy when we got into this hand.

How SHOULD I of played this hand?

And yeah it's the 1c/2c at Stars, so its a bit lower then most of you play but I'm trying to get some NL Ring game practice in.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (8 handed)

SB ($19.95)
BB ($4.96)
Hero ($4.96)
UTG+1 ($3.98)
MP1 ($1.15)
MP2 ($1.83)
CO ($2.84)
Button ($3.09)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [Ks], [Kc].
Hero raises to $0.1, UTG+1 calls $0.10, MP1 calls $0.10, 4 folds, BB calls $0.08.

Flop: ($0.41) [Kh], [As], [Th] (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.45, UTG+1 raises to $1.44, MP1 folds, BB folds, Hero raises to $4.86, UTG+1 calls $2.44 (All-In).

Turn: ($9.15) [8d] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($9.15) [5c] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $9.15

Hand Converter is not working right-villian had QJ
The Big Lebowski: Are you employed, sir?
The Dude: Employed?
The Big Lebowski: You don't go out looking for a job dressed like that? On a weekday?
The Dude: Is this a... what day is this?

you will get shown AQ AT AJ two hearts TT more than AA or QJ. You have outs against the current nuts should he hold QJ, fine by me to stack off here.

Yep. If he wants to call a raise with QJ that's his problem and he'll lose a chunk in the long run playing like it. This seems more like a bad beat story since I can't imagine anyone advocating playing this differently.

nothing could be done as too many yahoos (especially at that level) won't have the straight and you only really fear AA because you have 10 outs against the straight.
