Button ($46.75)
SB ($50)
BB ($60.5)
Hero ($112.85)
UTG+1 ($47.75)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [5h], [5d].
Hero calls $0.50, 4 folds, Button raises to $1, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.50.

Flop: ($2.75) [Js], [Tc], [5s] (2 players)
Hero bets $2, Button calls $2.

Turn: ($6.75) [6s] (2 players)
Hero bets $5, Button raises to $15, Hero calls $10.

River: ($36.75) [9d] (2 players)
Hero checks, Button checks.

Final Pot: $36.75

Results in white below:
Hero has 5h 5d (three of a kind, fives).
Button has Kd Jc (one pair, jacks).
Outcome: Hero wins $36.75.


I wasn't sure where I was in the hand and decided to just call the turn but I didn't know what to do on the river if it didn't pair up. Luckily, he gave up on the hand and I didn't have the decision. What do you think of the turn and what do you do on the river if he bets?

That's a tough spot OOP. I probably play it the same way, although I might bet a little bigger on the flop, just b/c the flush draw is out there and the pot is so small. Your opponents line is comical.

I agree... I would've bet more on the flop, played the turn the same,, and prayed that he didn't bet the river... If he DID bet, and it was a reasonable amount (ie... about $10), I probably would've called...

I like the check on the river here. You're giving your opponent the chance to bluff. Value betting isn't worth it in this spot as there would be too many scare cards for him. But if he bets...you've got him.

BTW...I would not fold on the river...don't care if the bet were large or not. By checking, you're setting him up to bet.
