Some more bluffing...

Postby Smokin'Al » Tue May 24, 2005 2:50 pm

Kalle made a short-lived attempt to replace me as the Forum's Worst Bluffer, but (i) got away with it, (ii) Iceman said it was good ...

... so I thought it was a good time to cement my position, with some bluffs from today's Monkey Monkey 6-handed session (200NL).

So which bluffs succeeded, and which deserved to? You Decide...

Bluff #1

I raise to $8 utg with TT, tight UTG+1 reraises to $15. All fold and I call.
Flop 4KK. Check, check.
Turn 7. I check, UTG+1 bets $5 into $33 pot, I raise to $45.

Bluff #2

EP and MP have tangled in the last hand and EP is chatting like he's on tilt, having lost a big pot. MP is a calling station who's been hitting some great cards.

Tilting EP raises to $6. MP calls (just to make a change), I call from the button with [Kd][Js].
Flop [Ad][3d][4d], $21 pot. EP bets $15, MP calls, I call.
Turn [Kc], $66 pot. check, check, check.
River [4s], check, check, I bet $50.

Bluff #3

On the button, I call an $8 raise from solid MP with [6s][7s]. Everyone else folds.
Flop [Kc][4s][Qs]. MP checks, I bet $12 ($18 pot), MP min raises and I call.
Turn [8d], $66 pot. Check, check
River [2d] Check, I bet $50.

I like hand 1.

Hand 2, I bet the turn in position. You have second pair and nut flush draw. Betting the river just looks like a buy and you may bet a call from someone with an ace. Therefore, I raise the turn because raising the flop looks like betting a flush draw.

Hand 3 - what does Ice say about min raises? However, this guy doesn't follow through on any streets so it looks like it could work. When he checks the turn, I go for another bet with my flush draw/gutshot. Depending on what he does there determines my river action if I miss.

I'm not a shorthanded player and still working on my suited connector play.

I would have called #2, and 3 most likely. Not sure about the first one.
