2 limpers and I make it $6 from the SB with [Jd]. Only UTG calls. We are both full and Ive never seen him before.

Pot $15. Flop [8d][3c]. I bet $11 and he calls.
Pot $37. Turn . I bet $26 and he calls.
Pot $89. River . We have about $60 left. Whats my plan here?

Pretty much every pocket pair has me beat. 98, 87, T9 and 76 have me beat. Can I beat anything? Do I check / fold?

On the other hand, what can HE beat if I shove? From his point of view he has to think that I can only shove a big hand or a total bluff. So cac I shove here as a thin value bet and hoep he calls me very light because I might be bluffing with AK?

Spots like this always give me a very tough time. I always lean towards shoving in so that HE is the one in the very tough spot, not me. Once I shove, its HIM who has to make a very touch decision.

Thoughts on this hand and the concept in general of shoving to put the other guy in the tough spot?

Ive been troubled by something for quite a while. There are quite a few plays that I make regularly and have explained the reasoning behind several times and everyone thinks Im nuts. A few times Ive stopped doing those plays because I figured...well..I must be nuts. But then I start breaking even for long stretches.

So I go back to making these plays again and start crushing the games so Im starting to think that my plays work and the rest of you are nuts

In this particular hand, I shoved all in for the above listed reasons. Basically I dont think he can call an all in, but Im afraid he will shove all in and I wont be able to call. I want him to be the one with the big decision and folding the best hand some portion of the time instead of me doing it. Who cares if he will never call me when Im ahead.

Except that he called with J9, so yes, they do call when Im ahead sometimes. Take it for what its worth. For many reasons, most of which are my own emotional demons related to hating variance and hating having big losing days, Ive never moved way up and stayed there, but beleive me, Ive been crushing these lower to mid stakes games for longer than most people and I actually do know what Im doing.

Even if all Im doing is maximizing profit from idiots better than most people , thats fine with me.
