I thought I played the hand well...what do you think?

2/4NL
Opponent has $400...I have him covered.

I've played with this particaular opponent a lot. He's a decent player. Will bet when he needs to in key situations . A little loose on some calls..but more decent then most.

I'm dealt [8c][8h] in the BB.

My opponent is in MP and is one of the few limpers.

FLOP $14
[3d][4c][5h] rainbow

I lead out for $14. Only the MP opponent calls.

TURN $42
[3d][4c][5h][Kd] backdoor flush draw on board

I figure he's drawing...might have a pocketpair...don't think the king helped him. I bet $32. He calls. ( i use to awlays check in these situations...glad to see i'm becoming more aggressive.)

RIVER $106
[3d][4c][5h][Kd][9c] rainbow

I check. Opponent bets $70 fairly quickly. I call.

I called because:
1. I figured I would induce a bluff if he was drawing with that check.
2. that 9 on the river makes it unlikely he had pocket 99
3. He wouldn't bet with 1010....and he would have raised preflop with JJ-AA
4. $176 pot to call $70 gives me about 2.5-1.
5. He bet quickly on a pretty cooridianted board

All of this stuff went through my mind in about 10 seconds...amazing when you look back on it. So what do you guys think?

Results later.

I hate hands like these because you never know what he has.

I played almost this exact same hand the other day

345 flop. I bet out with 66 and got 2 calls. K turn. I check/called a 1/2 pot bet after the other guy called also. River 2. I check raised all in. He had K2.

Your guy could have 22, 66, 77, or a whole range of suited hands like K6s, K5s ect.

I probably call because youre getting 2.5-1 and Im about 50/50 sure that you win/lose.

Interesting hand.

What can he really have that you beat? I think something like AQ or AJ (or does he raise those) or AT, maybe even a QJ-ish type hand, although I don't know whether he's the kind to call on flop AND turn with overcards, which would be pretty bad, I think, certainly bad without the A (although he might have the intention of bluffing the river, who knows?). Could also have something like A3, 4 or 5, maybe, or 66 or 77, or 65 or 64.

And what could he have that beats you? KQ or KJ obviously. 99 maybe, although the flat call would look odd to me on the flop. Or 76, which is actually the most logical hand to play the way he did, maybe also a set or 2 pair.

I don't know, I think it's probably worth calling the river after all that. If he wins, I think he'll most likely turn over 76s or something like that. But I can see his trying to bluff the river with something pretty junky, too. If he actually had something on the flop, I don't entirely see why he didn't raise you on the turn at the latest.

I've gotta put him on 66 or 77 most likely 66. Actually he might have 65 suited also. I don't know I hate this type of hand lol
