Top pair and a flush draw... too agressive?

Postby devilmollusk » Sat Apr 23, 2005 6:18 pm

Please critique this play. My read on this player is pretty tight/passive. I have been very agressive at this table and might be getting a frustration call to my raise here. I have villian covered, but we are both somewhat deep.

One explanation here... on the turn I really wanted to see what he did. I was actually willing to give this hand up to a big bet... when he led out so weakly, I felt I could take the pot coming over the top, and I still had outs if he called with an overpair or trips.

Yeah the preflop raise is debatable, but I like it. The min raise on the flop is difficult to play against out of position. Calling for more information wasn't a terrible play, and you coming over on the top on the turn was good. His small bet could mean he just raised you on the flop because he didn't believe you made your hand. Your check-raise on the turn shows him that you do indeed have a hand. For him to fold he probably didn't have much of anything, mid pair at best.
